This security advisory is being issued to all clients who transfer data to us via the Internet.

As you may know, data sent unencrypted over the Internet is not secure. It is possible, although not highly probable, that e-mail communications & data transfers may be intercepted and examined by third parties.

We recommend that clients be very aware of this fact when sending any information over the Internet. It is possible to encrypt electronic mail; however, limitations in e-mail packages and compatibility issues currently limit the usefulness of this. We would expect that in the near future, you will encounter a growing trend toward encrypting all communications over the Internet.

We have developed software that uses proven, strong, encryption algorithms that can be used to encrypt data that you may wish to send to us. All clients covered by a maintenance agreement will receive the software free of charge. We strongly urge you to use it for sending data to us.

Because of potential liability issues, we may refuse to work on data that has not first been encrypted using our software. The software is available directly from Vandenberg Systems.
